Our Signature Fundraiser, An International Affair, Celebrate America! was held at the Prescott Resort and was another great success for CCJ.
As our guests entered through a garden arbor lined with trees lit by hundreds of lights (donated by Watters Garden Center), they were greeted by Elisabeth Ruffner and serenaded by “Remembering When” the singing group of Judy Clothier, Carol Gardner & Judy Steward. Dr. Sam Downing and his wife Leigh and Yavapai County Attorney, Sheila Polk and her husband Tom, presided over the affair as co-honorary chairs. The tri-cities were represented by Mayors Karen Fann, Harvey Skoog & Jack Wilson and both President Ernie Jones and GM Jim Noe were there to represent the Yavapai Prescott Indian Tribe. The food buffets representing savory foods from five of our country’s regions – Southern, Southwest, Midwest, Pacific and ‘Off the Coast’ - were plentiful. Centerpieces representing ‘An American Soup’ were designed to tell the story of CCJ and after the event were given to our Open Door program for future meals... A $500 money tree donated by Credit Union West started off the live auction fun with Dennis Garvey and Carl Brown, auctioneers extraordinaire, giving a show of their own. Jet rides donated by Captain Chuck McCoy and Greg Galpin, scooters donated by Scooter and Auto Source and a PT Cruiser donated by York Dodge Chrysler Jeep, represented every form of transportation in the area. Over 125 silent auction items kept our guests busy bidding and four themed ‘raffle tables’ kept everyone hoping they had winning tickets. Entertainment by Elvis (Gene Styles) had our guests reminiscing and dancing to those old-time favorites. |
