The mission of the Advocacy Committee is broad and ambitious – to influence public policy and legislative actions that impact issues of poverty. Through education, non-partisan community dialogue, and active citizen involvement we strive to nurture democracy and eliminate social inequities. As such, the mission of the Advocacy Committee is completely consistent with and supportive of the mission and vision of CCJ as a whole.
To date, the Advocacy Committee has served as a meeting ground for a loose coalition of citizens and representatives of community organizations to share their views on issues of importance to our community and on occasion to take action intended to improve the lives of the poor. The most notable example of the latter has been the role played by the Advocacy Committee on the issue of public transit in the greater Prescott area.
The Advocacy Committee meets at noon on the fourth Wednesday of every month, on the second floor of the Prescott United Methodist Church. All are welcome!
